Deep Diver Paula

E-mail from Deep Diver Paula:

Rain during the night and we lost electricity.  Got up this morning with no water and couldn’t flush the toilet.  Road was a real mess.  Had breakfast in the room and wandered down to the shop.

First dive was to Black Rock to West End Wall as a drift dive.  Saw a trumpet fish right away.  Saw a nice spotted eel but couldn’t get a good photo of it.  Saw a cow fish which, is so cute.  Lots of nice coral with many different varieties and very colorful.

Second dive to Bears Den.  Lots of nooks and crannies.  Saw lobster and a huge dead crab.  Also the dive master pointed out a decorator crab.  Saw a turtle at the very end of the dive just hanging out at 24 ft.  Leslie went up because she was cold, but I had to get a photo of the turtle.

Last dive to Turtle Crossing saw many turtles.  Nice live sand dollar.  Saw a couple of spawning sponge.  That is really quite rare to see.  Leslie explained it to me after the second dive and I actually saw more on the third dive of the day.  Sponge give off a white substance at first and I thought it was parrot fish p**p.  Saw a free swimming moray eel.

Heading out to the Argentinean Grill for dinner this evening.  Supposed to be one of the nicer restaurants on the island.  Rather than attend the Rotary meeting we are meeting as a group at the Lighthouse on Thursday.  Leslie, I, and five others are going to make one dive in the morning and then hit town for the afternoon.  I want to pick up a T-shirt and look around.

xxxooo Paula

Quote of the day:  Will Paula return or stay to live the rest of her life diving?  Mark    Just 17 days until St. Patrick's Day. < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
