Saturday, June 17, 2017:  Hundreds traveled by boat and car to the annual Whitefish Chain Antique & Classic Wood Boat Rendezvous at Moonlight Bay.

Lots of wooden boats to see.  Each one a gem in its own right.

Yes, there was a lot to discuss.

One had a 12-cylinder engine.  Great pushing power!

Onlookers were ashore and on the water.

Boat designs were as varied as people's opinions on which was best.

Hmmm....Gatsby, as in the movie the Great Gatsby.  Nicely done.

This man said his "grandson" boat was just a small version of the real thing.

Lots to see including fiberglass boats from the 1960s.

Every boat had something unique.  This runabout looked fun.

Operating controls for some were very detailed.

This lady was having a great time just saying hi to people.  Nice hat too.

Then there were the model boats.  One is named Moonlight Bay, like the restaurant.

This man and his dog preferred paddle power to engine power.

The event was broadcast, as usual, on WJJY Radio in Brainerd.

Quote of the day:    Always fun to see the boats.   Mark    < Back to previous story Ahead to next story >
